Ktunaxa Elders Gathering Dinner in Vancouver

Guidance provided by Ktunaxa ʔaqⱡsmaknik̓ included:

• Members want more frequent updates on the LSV initiative.
• Sharing meeting schedules in advance is important so members can prepare.
• Provide stronger background and context during presentations, especially for members who do not regularly attend meetings.
• Involve Ktunaxa experts in forestry.
• Create opportunities for youth involvement and ensure elders’ voices are included.
• Promote awareness and respect for Ktunaxa rules on lands and waterways.
• Look into the recent Cowichan court case, which reinforces that Crown governments cannot extinguish Indigenous rights and title.
• All information gathered through the LSV must be interpreted by Ktunaxa individuals.
